Undisclosed number of persons were injured on Thursday when armed thugs allegedly fired shots at the convoy of the Edo State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Monday Okpebholo and former Deputy Governor of the state, Phillip Shaibu as they were leaving the Benin Airport on arrival from Abuja.
The incident was said to have occurred when the APC candidate, Shaibu and others arrived Benin aboard a chartered private jet.
The impeached former deputy governor was said to have been going to his office with his supporters as a result of the court judgement reinstating him before the incident happened.
The police orderly of Philip Shaibu was said to have been killed during the incident, while the Edo state police command spokesperson Chidi Nwabuzor when contacted, termed it as a rumour which he is yet to verify.
