A philanthropist, Chief Chidi Charles Onyeze, has emerged the governorship candidate of the Accord party for the November 8th 2025 Anambra governorship election.
Angel Network News (ANN) reports that Onyeze emerged unopposed during the Party’s Primary election process held at East End Hotel, Aroma, Awka, on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.
Onyeze emerged victorious in Awka, the state capital, after securing 93 votes out of the 96 accredited votes.
In his acceptance speech, Onyeze called for unity among Accord Party members, stressing that the mission ahead could not be achieved if the party go into it divided.
“We are all members of the Accord Party, and we must work as a family. We are in this race for the good of Ndi Anambra. No one in the state is happy with what is happening. Our lives are not safe, and no one is secure in Anambra,” the governorship candidate stated.
Onyeze also expressed his readiness for the upcoming contest, stating that Anambra used to be a state of pride, but today, many no longer feel proud of the state’s current situation.
He added that he was on a mission to rescue Anambra for the good of the people.
“If elected, I will run an inclusive administration. No local government or community will be left behind in my drive to develop Anambra State,” he vowed.
He further highlighted his ongoing humanitarian efforts through his foundation, stating that it had already touched many lives, and he would expand its impact if he became governor.
Speaking shortly after the primary election, the State Chairman of the Accord Party, Chief Batho Igwedibia, praised the peaceful nature of the process, contrasting it with the violence often associated with other parties’ primaries.
“As you can see, it has been a peaceful process because we are a law-abiding party, and everyone comported themselves in an orderly manner.

“Our party is number one on the ballot, and we shall remain number one at all times,” Igwedibia added.
