OPM Pastor Halts Marriage Plans for Autistic Daughter After Over 1,000 Suitor Applications

The founder of Omega Power Ministries has suspended plans to arrange a marriage for his 21-year-old adopted autistic daughter after receiving more than 1,000 applications from prospective suitors.

Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, also known as HRM King Chibuzor Chinyere, announced the decision in a Facebook post on Thursday, just days after publicising the offer that included substantial financial incentives and welfare guarantees.

“Chiemeka Chibuzor’s wedding is hereby suspended. More than a thousand applications. No more wedding, pending further directive from me, HRM King, Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere,” the cleric wrote.

Chinyere had on Tuesday invited applications for a husband for his daughter Chiemeka, specifying that the prospective groom must be young and “physically and mentally fit in all forms.” In return, he offered lifetime financial support, free housing for life, a jointly owned property, and regular unannounced monitoring visits by OPM staff to ensure the bride’s welfare.

The overwhelming response prompted the immediate suspension, with no new timeline given for any future arrangement.

The development follows a similar high-profile marriage organised by the pastor in March for a non-verbal autistic man known as Aboy, who wed an older woman in a ceremony that drew wide attention.

Chinyere, whose ministry is known for charitable works and adoption of vulnerable children, has not provided further details on how the large number of applications will be handled or what criteria might guide any eventual selection.

The announcement has sparked mixed reactions online, with some praising the pastor’s openness in seeking a partner for his daughter while others question the public nature of the process for a young woman with autism.

Chinyere’s ministry continues to operate several outreach programmes across Nigeria, often focusing on education, health and support for people with disabilities.
