Orutugu Calls For Community Collaborations To Improve Safety, Security In Anambra

Anambra Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu joined News Central TV at Radisson-Onyx Hotel for a security Town Hall Meeting.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that
the meeting was aimed at interacting with the citizens, especially ndi Anambra, where thoughts on security concerns were provoked.

The security stability of the State was also x-rayed and suggestions proferred to improve safety and security in the State.

In his remark, the CP reiterated the need for Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) to resolve issues bordering on disputes over Land, such as Kingship tussles, boundary issues, farmers/herders clashes and/or any other related issues.

Orutugu noted that some of these issues, if not properly addressed, degenerate into serious crimes and crisis.

The CP seeks greater community engagements, resources and intelligence to improve the security operations that can help the Police Command to better understand the community needs and concerns, as well as improve security in every area of the State.

He also decries the level of moral decay and calls on parents/guardians to be better role models to their children/wards, by creating a deliberate relationship with them as it will help to assess and direct them properly.

The Police boss recognizes that security is a collective responsibility and that community involvement is essential to achieving lasting peace and stability.

In attendance were other sister agencies like NSCDC, FRSC, Traditional rulers, Viligante groups, Civil society groups, pressmen, women groups, different Anambra State youth forums and other relevant Stakeholders.
