Osili Village has emerged as the champion of the 2025 Enugwu-Ukwu Unity Cup Football Competition, a prestigious annual tournament sponsored by the founder of Aid the Hungry Foundation, Hon. Dozie Okoye (Oba Ikepamaego Enugwu-Ukwu) in collaboration with the Enugwu-Ukwu Community Development Union (ECDU) and the Enugwu-Ukwu Youth Council (EYC).
Angel Network News (ANN) reports that the 2025 edition of the Enugwu-Ukwu Unity Cup featured 18 villages from Enugwu-Ukwu community in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The thrilling grand finale was played at the Orabuike Primary School pitch, Enugwu-Ukwu, where Osili Village defeated Umuakwu Village by 2 goals to 1 in a highly competitive encounter. The victory crowned Osili Village as the new champion of the tournament.
At the end of the competition, Osili Village went home with the grand prize of ₦1 million, while Umuakwu Village, the first runners-up, received ₦500,000. Avomimi Village, who defeated Uruokwe Village 2–1 in the third-place playoff, received ₦300,000.
The tournament had its matches played at Orabuike Primary School Field and St. Anthony’s Catholic Parish Field, Enugwu-Ukwu.
Speaking after the final match, the sponsor of the competition, Hon. Dozie Okoye, congratulated Osili Village for their outstanding performance and praised all participating teams for their discipline, sportsmanship, and brotherly conduct throughout the tournament.
Okoye described the competition as a unifying platform for the youths of Enugwu-Ukwu and assured the community that the Unity Cup has come to stay and will be bigger and better in future editions.
Hon. Okoye stated that the tournament is aimed at discovering football talents, promoting unity among the villages, and providing entertainment for the community, especially during the festive period. He also commended the local organizing committee and the Enugwu-Ukwu Youth Council for successfully organizing the competition.
Highlights of the event included the decoration of the winning teams and the presentation of prize monies, amid cheers and celebration from community members.
