Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen delivered a stellar performance on Tuesday night, scoring twice and assisting another as Galatasaray cruised to a convincing Champions League victory over Norwegian champions Bodo/Glimt.
The 26-year-old forward struck twice in the first half and later set up Yunus Akgün for the third, sealing a 3–1 win that marked Galatasaray’s second successive triumph in Europe’s elite competition — their first back-to-back victories since December 2012.
“It’s an amazing feeling to help my team win,” Osimhen was quoted as saying after the match. “We are building confidence, and the chemistry is growing game after game.”
Having narrowly edged Liverpool in their previous outing, the Turkish champions continued their fine form with a commanding display in Istanbul. The win temporarily lifted Okan Buruk’s men to 11th in the group table before the evening’s later fixtures.
Osimhen opened the scoring early, slotting Mario Lemina’s low pass into the bottom corner, before doubling the advantage 30 minutes later — capitalising on a defensive blunder by Fredrik Bjørkan to round goalkeeper Nikita Haikin and finish coolly into an empty net.
Despite missing chances for a potential hat-trick, Osimhen’s relentless pressing led to Galatasaray’s third goal as Akgün pounced on a rebound to seal the win.
Bodo/Glimt managed a late consolation through Andreas Helmersen’s header, but the visitors remain winless and rooted to the bottom of their group.
The result extends Osimhen’s rich vein of form, following his hat-trick for Nigeria against Benin earlier this month — a statement performance reinforcing his status as one of Africa’s leading lights in European football.
