Outrage as Pro-Tinubu Campaign Branding Spotted Inside INEC Office

Public concern has erupted in Nigeria after a campaign-branded vehicle bearing President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” slogan was reportedly spotted parked within the premises of an Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Rivers State.

According to Politics Nigeria, the incident, captured in a video circulating on social media on Thursday, showed the vehicle inside the electoral body’s facility, prompting accusations of compromised neutrality ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In the footage, an unidentified man expressed alarm at the discovery. “This is inside INEC in Rivers State and I’m seeing Renewed Hope. That is Renewed Hope motor parked inside INEC o,” he said, adding that no vehicles or branding linked to other parties such as the PDP or ADC were visible.

He questioned the implications for the commission’s impartiality: “What is it telling you?” The man highlighted the absence of similar materials from opposition parties, describing the scene as one-sided.

The video quickly drew widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians voicing fears that the sighting could erode public confidence in INEC’s ability to conduct free and fair polls. Critics called on the electoral commission to issue an immediate explanation and reaffirm its independence.

As of Thursday evening, INEC had not released any official statement addressing the allegation, nor had the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) commented on the matter.

The development comes amid heightened political sensitivities in Rivers State, a key battleground in previous elections, and as early manoeuvring for the 2027 presidential race intensifies. President Tinubu’s allies have already begun signalling support for his potential re-election bid.

Political observers noted that any perception of bias by INEC could further polarise the electorate and fuel existing distrust in the country’s democratic institutions.

Efforts to independently verify the exact circumstances surrounding the vehicle’s presence were ongoing at the time of reporting. The commission is expected to face increased scrutiny to maintain its credibility as Nigeria prepares for the next electoral cycle.
