Over two hundred residents of Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State recently received free health screening, sponsored by the Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon.(Mrs) Amaka Obi which was aimed at bringing hospital and health care facilities closer to the people of the area.
Hon. Obi while speaking during the outreach maintained that Idemili South have established a free and easy healthcare for all constituents especially the elderly persons, stating that health provision is topmost agenda of Governor Charles Soludo.
The MD, Anambra Health Insurance Agency ably represented by Dr. Ifediora Ngozika commended Hon. Obi for reaching out to the “common man.”
According to her; the health sector should be community driven.
“I commend Idemili South Council boss for this kind gesture; with this, she has given wealth to the people because health is wealth. As you can see, the people are happy for being beneficiaries”, she said.
Mrs. Ifeoma Ogbu, one of the beneficiaries, said that she was happy with the gesture, stating that her glasses had been changed without paying a dime. She said almost all the members of her family had benefited from Hon. Obi’s goodwill to the people of Idemili South.
ANN gathered that the outreach catered for free health insurance, free medical checkup in diabetes, hypertension for three months, distribution of free drugs, free doctor’s consultation and necessary treatment, free antenatal care, free eye checkups and issuance of lenses glasses, counseling and health education.
