Pastor David Ibiyeomie has sparked debate by asserting that church instrumentalists, particularly drummers who are paid for their services, will never prosper financially.
Speaking during a recent sermon at Salvation Ministries, which he founded, Ibiyeomie argued that ministry should stem from devotion rather than monetary compensation. He cited Exodus 23:25, stating that serving God selflessly attracts divine blessings.
“The moment they pay you, the blessing stops,” he said. “‘And the blessing of the Lord maketh rich,’ so you just remain at the level they are paying you. You will never rise. As you see, drummers who receive money never get rich.”
