Patience Ozokwor Clinches Industry Merit Award At AMVCA

Nigerian actress, musician, and evangelist, Patience Ozokwor popularly known as Mama G on Saturday clinched the Industry Merit Award category of the 2023 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award (AMVCA9).

The awards which held in Lagos celebrated outstanding talents in the film and television industry across Africa.

She joins veterans like Olu Jacobs and others in the industry who have been recognised in this category in the past.

The AMVCA on its Twitter handle says Ozokwor’s exceptional talent and contributions to the entertainment industry have shaped the landscape of African cinema.

Born in born 14 September 1958, in present day Enugu State, she started off as an announcer and broadcaster on Radio Nigeria before delving into the world of film making.

She rose to fame from her role in the 1999 movie titled “Authority”. The talent has acted in hundreds of movies. Mama G has portrayed a wide range of characters in various movies. Mostly known for playing the role of a “wicked woman” in most of her films, Mama G captivates viewers with her unique style of acting.

Ozokwor is no newbie to the world of awards in the entertainment industry as she has won the Best Supporting Actress 2012 & 2013 award at the 10th Africa Movie Academy Awards. She was also among the top 100 Nigerians Honored by the government to celebrate the amalgamation of the northern and southern protectorates in 2014.
