Perpetrators Of Violence Against The Police Apprehended In Onitsha

Anambra State Government says the perpetrators of the dastardly act against the police have been apprehended in Obosi road, Onitsha.

Governor Willie Obiano stated this during his usual monitoring exercise in some parts of the state.

Recall that yesterday, some gun men set ablaze one police van on patrol, attacked and shot one police officer and two others in Onitsha.

Around the areas so far monitored by the Governor, economic activities are gradually returning as most banks along Ziks Avenue were open, as well as some banks along the Expressway.
Visible economic activities were observed at Eke Awka market and environs.

The Governor also made stops at Afoigwe market, Umudioka and Oye-Agu market, Abagana where activities were on top gear. He went into the markets and traded with them as a way of ecouragement.

The Governor who advised ndi Anambra to continue to go about their duties, promised to continue to provide security.

He reminded them of the security situation before the advent of administration, urging them to continue to support his government.

For his part, the Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Mr. Uchenna Okafor told the traders that government cannot stand akimbo and allow such order from non-state actors to persist because many of them are based outside the country and stressed that the situation will only affect the state economy.

The Palace Secretary of Umudioka Royal Cabinet, Ichie Peter Ikegbunam appreciated the governor for having vested interest in Anambra communities, especially Umudioka, assuring that they will continue to support his administration.

Chairmen of Afor Igwe market, Mr. Dennis Okwuosa and his Afor-Igwe counterpart extolled the governor for being proactive to duty.
