Peter Obi Voices Doubt Over ADC Presidential Nomination for 2027

Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has admitted he is not guaranteed the African Democratic Congress ticket for the 2027 election, despite his recent defection to the party.

In a video address shared with supporters on Tuesday, Obi addressed speculation about his automatic selection as the ADC flagbearer.

“Someone asked me how I know for sure that the ADC will give me the presidential ticket. I cannot be certain,” he said.

Obi stressed he remains committed to contesting under the party banner and will campaign vigorously across Nigeria regardless of the outcome.

“I’m not guaranteed the ADC ticket, but I’m fighting for it. I fear no one — I’ll campaign anywhere in Nigeria,” he added.

The remarks come weeks after Obi formally joined the ADC and received his membership card, raising expectations among opposition figures that he would emerge as the party’s standard-bearer against the ruling All Progressives Congress.

ADC stakeholders have pushed for a southern presidential ticket, but internal negotiations are still ongoing and no formal decision has been announced.
