Plateau Gov Explains Use of Armoured Vehicle During Jos Attack Address

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has defended his decision to address residents from inside an armoured carrier following the recent deadly attack in Jos North, citing security concerns for his safety and that of the crowd.

Mutfwang made the explanation on Tuesday while speaking to journalists in Jos, shortly after visiting affected communities.

“I addressed the crowd from the armoured carrier because the situation was still volatile and we had to ensure the safety of everyone present,” he said.

He added that the choice was not intended to create distance but to allow him to calm the public without exposing them to further risk.

The governor’s comments come days after gunmen killed several people in the Angwan Rukuba area, triggering widespread anger and protests. Mutfwang assured residents that security agencies were working to restore calm and prevent further incidents.
