A police operative attached to Otuocha Area Command, Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State on Saturday shot and killed a youth of the area.
Angel Network News (ANN) gathered that
the youth had a disagreement with the policemen at a checkpoint, when one of them quickly pulled the trigger and shot him dead.
It was however not clear the argument that led to the killing of the youth, but police authorities confirmed the incident.
A source from Aguleri in Anambra East Local Government Area, who brought this to the attention of newsmen with a gory video of the youth’s dead body said the police squad involved was led by one Onyebuchi.
ANN reports that the incident has greatly unsettled the area as youths protested the action of the police.
Reacting, the state police command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga said the command is aware of it and has taken control.
He said: “The Police Officer involved has been identified as Inspector Sani Suleiman.
“He has been disarmed and detained for further investigations and internal disciplinarian procedures.”
