Police collaborating with Anambra State Vigilantes at Ichida bus stop along the Ichida- Igboukwu expressway, rescued a woman kidnapped at Abatete, neutralize two members of the notorious gang.
ANN reports that one Ak-47 rifle, two pump action gun, two Ak-47 magazine, thirty- two live ammunition where recovered, including one highlander jeep belonging to the victim.
Preliminary information reveals the deadly gang of eight operating with two vehicles a Grey Highlander jeep and a white Lexus 350, abducted the victim in her ash Highlander jeep. The victim was rescued unhurt and she has been debriefed.
While interacting with reporters, on Wednesday at the command headquarters, the Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye called for support in order to improve security and safty of life and property in Anambra state
” The Inspector-General of Police has giving us the mandate to make a difference in the security achitecture and level of safty in our respective commands.
” We are to introduce new strategies and improve on existing once to get the desired result and we are greatful for the cooperation of the people of Anambra state which has started yelding dividends.
“We are not telling criminals to relocate from Anambra. We will not creat problems for neighboring states. We have what it takes to deal with them here and we will deal with them squarely unless they turn a new leaf.
“We commend the state government for its initiative in creating social avenue for people to turn away from crime. Encouraging occasional training to take the youths off the street and getting them employed.
“We have no delight if anyone loses their life but if that is what it takes to protect the people of Anambra State, we will stop at no obstacle to achieve this mandate given to us by the Inspector-General of Police.
” We want to minimize lost of lifes because life is sacred and no individual can creat it. Its better for people to take profitable vocations that are legitimate and honest, than continue in criminal activities because it seems profitable.
” How profitable is an enterprise whose end is death? It is foolishness. We have a job to do and we will do it to the best of our ability and that Job is to secure the people of Anambra state. We will do all it takes to achieve that.
“We will secure the people of Anambra state. We will serve them to the best of our ability and we will ensure that their lives add value and nobody takes away their fundamental human right to life. That is the reason for our existance and we are determined to fulfill this constitutional role.
” We call on stackholders, traditional rulers, community and religious leaders and members of the press to carry the message forward.
“Crime does not pay and for Anambra to be great, all hands must be on deck.
“we in the security sector, working with sisters security agencies in the state and with the Vigilantee groups, we will do all it takes to reduce crime to the bearest minimum’. Adeoye said.
