The Transition Committee Chairman of Anambra East Dr. Anselm Onuorah has promised to pay additional five thousand naira (5,000) logistics support to each of the three hundrend and seven (307) health personnel and volunteers that are currently executing the immunization exercise in the area.
Dr. Onuorah who made this known while flagging off the second statewide outbreak response immunization against Circulating Variant Polio Virus Type 2 at Umuoba Anam ward.
The Anambra East Mayor said that the gesture was to complement the Anambra state government and other development partners in their budgeted for health workers in the four day exercise.
The TC Chairman appealed to the health workers to do their job dispassionately to ensure that the immunization yields it intended result, and urged people of the local government to collaborate with the health workers to make the exercise a seamless one.
Dr. Onuorah called on parents and caregivers to bring out their children and wards who fall under the age brackets of zero to 59 months for them to be immunized, even as he charged Ndi Igwe, Presidents General, religious leaders and other stakeholders in the council to help in sensitizing the people on the benefits of the ongoing immunization.
ANN reports that the mayor had earlier spearheaded a pivotal meeting with the Anambra East Health Committee and the staff of various primary health care centers in the local government which served as a platform to strategize in alignment with the World Health Organization’s guidelines for the smooth execution of the exercise.
