….Obinze declared the winner with 601 votes

The aftermath of the President General election in Ikem Ivite Nando, Anambra East Local Government Area, has sparked controversy as one of the candidates, Mr. Abuchi Nwakama publicly rejected the results announced by the electoral committee.

The President General election was initially scheduled for December 31st, 2024, but was canceled due to disruptions caused by supporters of both candidates.

Angel Network News (ANN) gathered that
Mr. Nwakama said the electoral process was riddled with irregularities and compromises, casting doubts on its credibility.

This claim by Mr. Nwakama followed after the election process turned chaotic as tensions escalated during the screening process, forcing security operatives to use teargas to disperse unruly crowds after heated altercations broke out among supporters of both candidates.

According to the official results, his rival Mr. Sunday Obinze was declared the winner with 601 votes, while Mr. Nwakama secured 557 votes.

In an interview after the announcement, Mr. Nwakama described the election as neither free nor fair, citing a lack of transparency in the vote-counting process.

He called on relevant authorities and the people of Ikem Ivite Nando to review the conduct of the election and the role of the electoral committee, which he claimed was compromised, urging his supporters to remain calm and allow the authorities to address the matter.

In response, Mr. Obinze expressed satisfaction with the election’s outcome, acknowledging the toughness and commending his rival’s strong weight.

Mr. Obinze assured the community of his commitment to unite and promised to include all parties in his plans for the betterment of Ikem Ivite Nando.
