President Tinubu Launches Geospatial Digital CRVS System

President Bola Tinubu, in Abuja on Wednesday, launched the electronic Civil Registration and Vital Statistics System (CRVS) and the Geospatial Data Repository.

Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Nasir Kwarra, said the platform will digitalise all civil registrations such as birth registration, stillbirth registration, birth attestation, adoption, marriage notification, divorce notification, migration and death.

During the launch at the Presidential Villa, in Abuja, President Tinubu said the population remains the greatest asset of the nation in the development process.

“Collecting accurate and reliable information is an essential governance activity which is also consistent of our renewed hope agenda. The commission will, therefore, be supported in the conduct of the next census.

“May I, in a special way, thank the private solution providers for this laudable project and assure them that the Federal Government of Nigeria will always extend their hand of partnership to all private investors that want to partner with this government at all levels”, he said.

Kwarra earlier disclosed that the NPC worked with UNICEF to develop the e-CRVS Operational Readiness Assessment Report, which demonstrated the potential of digital technologies to provide revolutionary results in CRVS and integrate data from various systems to securely store data at scale, economically, in Nigeria
