Pst Chris Okafor Apologises Publicly to Actress Doris Ogala After Turbulent Dispute

Acclaimed Clergyman Chris Okafor has issued a public apology to Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, kneeling before his church congregation in a livestreamed address amid a heated dispute over an alleged unfulfilled marriage promise that recently resulted in her arrest by police.

The founder of Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministries, also known as Grace Nation Liberation City, expressed remorse during the broadcast on December 28, while denying the bulk of the accusations leveled against him.220df1

“Listen, we’re not joining issues. Mistakes have been made in the past. And I tender [apology] to everybody,” Okafor said.

“But everything that was said is not true. Everything, take note, everything that was said was never true. There are so many lies in most of the things that were said,” he added.

Okafor extended his regrets directly: “But be it. I say I am sorry to everyone I have offended. To Doris Ogala, I also say sorry.”

“And I apologize to everyone that I have offended. And once again, I repeat this. I’m ready to make restitution to anyone,” the pastor continued.

“And anybody, any lady, anywhere, or man I have offended, I am sorry. Forgive me. I am not perfect. I’ve never been perfect. I’m kneeling down before everyone. And before the church.”

The gesture follows a private meeting earlier this week at the Zone 2 Police Command in Onikan, Lagos, where Okafor reportedly knelt and pleaded for reconciliation, leading to Ogala’s release on health grounds after her detention.

The controversy erupted when Ogala accused Okafor of promising marriage since their relationship began in 2017, including family introductions and a N45 million financial transfer, before he allegedly wed another woman.

Through her legal team at Synergy Law Partners, Ogala demanded N1 billion in damages for emotional, reputational and financial harm.

She was arrested in Abuja shortly after an initial bail, then transferred to Lagos, where her lawyer Marshal Abubakar claimed he was assaulted and his phone confiscated by officers.

Intervention by activist Jamiu Towolawi, known as Jharmo from the Take It Back Movement, facilitated her release as surety.

Okafor’s apology emphasized his imperfections and a willingness to amend, though it stopped short of addressing specific claims, leaving the underlying issues potentially unresolved.
