…Anambra assembly pleads with aggrieved teachers to be more patience
Upgraded Parent Teachers Association (PTA) today 6th December 2022 protested at the Anambra state house of assembly over the ommition of there names at the recently recruitment by the state government.
Mrs Quinet Emeghalu who led the delegation of the protesters to the house of assembly while speaking to the lawmakers lamented over there exclusion stating that some of them had letters of employment already.
“We wrote exams and did documentation and we where told to bring our original certificate. We went to our various schools and paid a lot of money to get our certificate. We where happy that we have gotten these job, all of a sudden, we came and there’s no job again. Nobody is telling us anything.
“The governor has not told us if he has dropped us. We are still wondering. We did not hear from the assembly members and we want to know the way forward. Will they push us out like this? We are suffering. We have no where to go, We are all Anamberians. Why would other people replace us. We want justice to be done.
Deputy Minority leader, Hon. Emeka Aforka while responding told the protesting teachers that their petition is receiving appreciate attention and is been deleberated.
Aforka who is the house committee chairman on public petition said “You have already brought your petition to the house of assembly formally and it was referred to the committee on public petition which am the chairman.
“Going on protest may jopedice the outcome of the recommendation. We have noted your petition and have seeing the merit in it. You people have been working on various schools in Anambra State and we can attest to that. The recruitment of the teachers was done by the government of Anambra state and most of you have the appointment letter. We appeal to you all to remain calm and be more patience.
“The house of assembly will come out with our discussion. Do not take laws into your hands. remain peaceful and be prayerful. We will continue to make case for the one thousand two hundred (1,200) of you. We have not abandon you because most of you are our relatives and from our constituency and your representatives are here soo we know your problems.
“On behalf of the Speaker of the Anambra state house of assembly, who is totally concerned about your case, we will go back and discuss with the state government to ensure that you people will be accommodated. You all have been teaching our children for years and Anambra state have winning awards and making us proud. We are proud of all of you. Don’t lose hope.
Chairman house committee on basic education Hon. Ejike Okechukwu while addressing the teachers urged them to remain calm stating that the assembly meet with the commisioner for education and interogete and attract the true facts as regards the recruitment.
Hon Okechukwu who is also deputy chairman house committee on public petition added by saying the house of assembly is a house of procedure and eighty percent of the process has been achieved urging them to be a little more patience.
“Your problems are ours too. all of you came from one constituency or the other and we represent you people here. Do not jopadice the good case you have. Relax, keep praying and believe in God and in the shortest possible time, this issues will be resolved and all of you will be happy again. He concluded.
They protesting PTA teachers where holding different placards also brought there appointment letters as evidence.
