Rapper Odumodublvck Says Colleagues Envious of His Success

The Hitmaker Claims Superior International Features and Bookings Fuel the Jealousy from Nigerian Peers.

Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Ojogwu, widely known as Odumodublvck, has asserted that his colleagues in the music industry harbor deep envy toward him, a claim he believes explains the criticism leveled against his lyrical ability.

Speaking during a recent episode of the Toronto Ada’s Room podcast, the “Pity This Boy” hitmaker emphasized that his versatility as both a rapper and a singer, coupled with his commercial success and international recognition, is the true source of his colleagues’ resentment.

Odumodublvck directly addressed the criticism that he is not lyrically gifted: “In Nigeria, they say that my rap is not good but I’m the most featured rapper by international artists.”

He then laid out his case for the professional jealousy he faces: “I think it’s a thing of envy because I sing my hooks, my songs are hits and I get more bookings than them.”

The rapper insisted that the negative narratives directed at him are rooted in the belief held by some peers that they are more talented, despite his greater achievements in the market.

”The envy is deep especially when they think they are better,” he stated, before concluding that he and his team are unfazed by the criticism. “But we pay no mind to that. We just continue pushing for those that believe—let them continue to tune in. It’s very unfortunate for the people on the other side because this thing is not going to stop soon.”

Odumodublvck concluded by issuing a challenge to any colleagues claiming superiority, urging them to back up their claims by generating comparable sales in records and shows.
