The Lagos State Police Spokesman, Ben Hundeyin has responded to the viral trend that Afrobeat Singer, Seun Kuti’s home was invaded by the police.
Presidential Candidate of AAC, Yele Sowore had earlier said that the “Nigeria Police Force in Lagos invaded Seun Anikulapo Kuti’s house after he was granted bail in search of further evidence to press fresh charges!”
Ben Hundeyin responded when asked by Nairaland founder, Seun Osewa;
“In the course of our investigation, we stumbled on certain suspicious things that needed to be proven/disproved beyond reasonable doubt.
“We, therefore, applied for and duly got a search warrant from the court, which we have executed. Investigation continues.”
He went on to say that “no law restricts the police from investigating another if the case deems so
“No law restricts the police to investigating only the initial crime. World over, Police Departments stumble on other crimes while investigating an initial crime and we are duty bound to investigate them in line with our mandate of detecting and investigating crimes.”
Recall that Seun Kuti was recently arrested for alleged assault of a policeman in uniform.
