The brother of Nollywood star Regina Daniels was released on N5 million bail Monday, capping a whirlwind week of detention sparked by her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, in a bitter marital dispute that has ensnared family members.
Sammy, whose full name was not disclosed in court records, had been hauled in by Nwoko’s security team in Lagos last week, accused of meddling in the high-profile split that has unfolded publicly via social media salvos and leaked allegations.
A Dutse Magistrate Court in Nasarawa State ordered his initial remand to Keffi Prison on Thursday, before a transfer to Suleja Prison amid procedural wrangles. The swift bail hearing followed pleas from his legal team, who decried the arrest as an overreach tied to domestic tensions.
Sammy’s elder brother, known online as @Sweezzy1, erupted in jubilation on Instagram upon news of the ruling, posting: “Sammy, you are a great man. Bail has been granted! Nigerians, thank you.”
The detention, lasting several harrowing days, amplified the chaos engulfing Daniels and Nwoko’s union, with the actress previously blasting the Delta lawmaker for isolating her and targeting relatives to coerce reconciliation.
No formal charges have been filed against Sammy, and his counsel maintained the move was a “personal vendetta” rather than criminal intent, though details remain sealed pending further inquiry.
