Rivers Varsity Graduates 6,326 With 58 First Class

About 58 out of the 6,326 graduating students of the Rivers State University (RSU) will be awarded first class at the institution’s forthcoming 35th convocation ceremony.

Besides, 4,654 others will graduate with second class, third class and pass degrees, respectively.

Addressing newsmen in Port Harcourt, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Nlerum Okogbule, said 960 students will be awarded Masters, while 372 others will receive the Doctor of Philosophy degrees.

Okogbule added that the university will confer the status of Emeritus Professor on four distinguished academic staff, who served the school meritoriously for 15 years before their retirement.

The VC disclosed that the convocation lecture will be delivered by the former governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke, on Thursday, December 14.

Okogbule said: “Those to be honoured are: Professor So-Ngo C. Teme; Professor Wey A. Amaewhule; Professor Alexis Monsi, and Professor Marie P. Eboh.

“This is an honour of distinction in recognition of the valuable services they have rendered to the university.”
