Paul Okoye, the Nigerian music star widely known as Rudeboy, has reignited fears of a fresh split within the iconic P-Square duo after he unfollowed his twin brother, Peter Okoye (Mr. P), on the social media platform Instagram.
The action, confirmed by checks across both artistes’ accounts, has sent shockwaves across the Nigerian music industry and among fans who celebrated the duo’s highly publicized 2021 reconciliation following a four-year separation.
The twin brothers have been engaged in an intermittent, protracted family and professional feud since 2017, leading to multiple splits. While they briefly reunited for a successful comeback tour, recent public statements have suggested unresolved deep-seated issues.
In recent weeks, the tension has escalated publicly. Paul Okoye, in a previous interview, spoke candidly about the persistent feud, stating that the separation was “not a war thing” but lamenting the breakdown in their relationship, questioning, “Even if we’re not doing P-Square, can’t we still be brothers?”
The removal of the follow status on the social media platform is often seen by fans as the strongest public signal of a new rift between the siblings, further complicating the future of the P-Square brand which they co-founded and built to global stardom.
Peter Okoye, who has also pursued a solo career as Mr. P, previously addressed the constant cycle of drama in an open letter, lamenting his brother’s alleged efforts to discredit his contributions to the group.
The current social media spat reinforces the fragility of the P-Square reunion, leaving their fans, who had hoped for new collaborative material, to once again grapple with the uncertainty surrounding the legendary group’s future.
Rudeboy had previously confirmed a split again, stating in an interview last year, “The plan of our coming back together was going to produce a lot of hit albums. But as it is now, I’m just focusing on Rudeboy. Trust me, it is not everything that I would want to say,” he said.
