Senator Kingibe Denies ‘Malicious’ Fake Contract Allegations

Senator Ireti Kingibe, representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has strongly denied allegations linking her to the award of fraudulent contracts, describing the claims as a coordinated smear campaign.

In a statement issued by her Special Assistant on Media, Matilda Duncan, on Tuesday, the lawmaker said she has never requested or received money for any contract, nor authorised anyone to do so on her behalf.

“I have never requested or received money for any contract, nor authorised anyone to do so on my behalf. These allegations are false, baseless, and a deliberate attempt to damage my reputation,” she said.

Kingibe also stated that the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has neither written to nor invited her in connection with the allegations.

She, however, welcomed a full and transparent investigation by the ICPC and other relevant agencies, expressing readiness to cooperate fully.

“I welcome a full and transparent investigation, and I am ready and willing to cooperate with all relevant agencies,” she added.

The senator urged members of the public to disregard the allegations, which she said were aimed at tarnishing her reputation.

Kingibe reaffirmed her commitment to serving residents of the Federal Capital Territory with honesty and integrity.
