Serving Corps Member ‘Ogunjiofor’ Laid To Rest In Okija, Anambra

A staff of the Engineering Department of Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) and a serving Corps member in River State Late Engineer Calistius Ogunjiofor has been laid to rest at his father’s compound in Umuogu village, Okija, Ihiala Local Government Area.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that before his interment, late Ogunjiofor was dressed in his NYSC uniform and his coffin drapped with the Nigerian flag symbolising that he is a hero as he died serving his country.

The Managing Director of ABS, Sir Chido Obidiegwu in his tribute said late Engr. Ogunjiofor was loved and adored by his friends , colleagues and management of the ABS because of  dedication and innovativeness at work.

Sir. Obidiegwu who was represented by Director of Engineering of the establishment, Engr Paul Okoye while consoling the family said that the late Engr. Ogunjiofor was an important asset to the station and asked the family to find solace in the fact that he lived an upright lifestyle and brought dignity to the family during his short stay on earth.

Earlier during a homily, the Vicar, St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, GRA, Awka, Rev. Fr. Pascal Nnajiofor said that even though Ogunjiofor’s death is a sad one, asked the family to find hope in the testimonies about his life.

Fr. Nnajiofor pointed out that one’s physical age is not what God pays attention to but one’s ability to live according to his will and fulfill his purpose as his child, therefore, challenged Christians to remain steadfast in their belief in God at all times.

The burial which was well-attended by staff of ABS, members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC; members of the Catholic Youth Organisation Of Nigeria, CYON, student unions, among others who all bore witness to late Engr. Ogunjiofor’s noble memory of hard work and loyalty.

Appreciating all those who rallied round them in their moment of grief, his eldest sister, Mrs. JaneFrances Okafor said it was too difficult saying goodbye to her brother as he the only son of her parents.

She prayed for generous spirit from their kinsmen to avoid depriving them of their father’s inheritance.
