The Social and Integral Development Centre (SIDEC) has praised the performance of Governor Chukwuma Soludo as he begins a second term in office, while outlining priority areas it says must define the next phase of governance in Anambra State.
In a statement issued by its Executive Director, Ugochi Agalaba-Ehiahuruike, the organisation said Soludo’s renewed mandate signals strong public endorsement of his policies and developmental strides across key sectors.
SIDEC pointed to improvements in road infrastructure as one of the administration’s standout achievements, noting that expanded and rehabilitated road networks have enhanced mobility, opened up rural communities, and stimulated economic activities.
The group also highlighted progress in healthcare, particularly the government’s free antenatal care and delivery initiative, which it said has eased the burden on families and improved access to maternal health services.
In the education sector, SIDEC commended the implementation of free education and ongoing investments in school infrastructure, describing them as critical interventions that have widened access to learning and strengthened the state’s human capital base.
Despite these gains, the organisation warned that the agricultural sector remains under-prioritised and requires immediate, strategic attention.
It urged the government to scale up support for farmers through better access to inputs, improved market linkages, and the adoption of climate-smart agricultural practices to boost productivity and ensure food security.
SIDEC further acknowledged the governor’s efforts to promote women in governance through key appointments but stressed that true inclusion must go beyond appointments.
It called for targeted reforms that would increase women’s chances of winning elective positions and deepen democratic representation.
The group expressed optimism that the second term offers an opportunity to consolidate achievements while addressing existing gaps, particularly in sectors critical to livelihoods and inclusive development.
It also reaffirmed its readiness to engage constructively with the government in advancing policies that promote social justice, sustainable development, and equitable governance across the state.
