Sinner Stuns Djokovic in Melbourne Masterclass, Earns Maiden Grand Slam Final

Jannik Sinner achieved a career milestone with a remarkable victory over 10-time Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic, triumphing 6-1, 6-2, 6-7, 6-3 to advance to his inaugural Grand Slam final in Melbourne.

Sinner’s powerful shots overwhelmed Djokovic, leading to the Serbian’s unexpected first loss at this tournament since 2018, marked by an unusual number of errors.

Reflecting on the match, Sinner acknowledged the toughness but emphasised his solid performance, having not faced a single break point.

While Djokovic rallied to take the third set on a tiebreak, Sinner regrouped in the fourth, capitalising on unforced errors to end Djokovic’s 33-match unbeaten streak at the Australian Open and thwart his pursuit of a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam.

Djokovic failed to create any breakpoints, underscoring Sinner’s dominance on serve.

Having previously defeated Djokovic in various competitions, Sinner, the first Italian to reach the Australian Open final, now eyes his maiden major title, awaiting the winner between Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev in Sunday’s final.
