The re-election campaign of Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, gained fresh momentum yesterday as the Soludo Campaign Council officially launched its ward tour and inaugurated polling unit councils across Awka South Local Government Area ahead of the November 8 governorship election.
Leading the mobilization effort, the Chairman, Soludo Campaign Council in Awka South Local Government Area and the Managing Director of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), Dr. Ossy Onuko flagged off the grassroots engagement in Isiagu, with follow-up stops in Ezinator and Umuawulu wards respectively.
Speaking at the wards, Dr. Onuko commended stakeholders for their early commitment and charged ward leaders to pursue “100/100” victory across all polling units, stressing the importance of treating the election with urgency and unity.
Dr. Onuko emphasized that Soludo does not make empty promises and also assured residents of continued infrastructural development, including the completion of strategic roads linking Isiagu and Ezinator communities, affirming the Governor’s commitment to sustainable progress at the grassroots.
The Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Pius Okoye reaffirmed support for Soludo’s second term, citing achievements in roads, public services, and youth empowerment and assured that Isiagu, Ezinator, and Umuawulu would deliver overwhelming votes for APGA.
Also addressing supporters, the Deputy Governor, Dr. OnyekaChukwu Ibezim praised the campaign’s strong start and set a target of one million votes for Governor Soludo, describing him as a visionary, prudent leader who has delivered measurable results across education, healthcare, infrastructure, and environmental development.
Former Awka South LG Transition Committee Chairman, Hon. ThankGod Anagor; Isiagu APGA stalwart Chief Jude Nwangwu; and Chief Jude Nwankwo (Jolity), PG of Ogbunike Building Materials Market, lauded Soludo’s people-first policies, noting that his administration has recorded tremendous success and achievements in both human and infrastructural development.
They affirmed their strong resolve to reward Soludo for his good works with their votes and called for unity across party structures to secure a second term.
Chief Azubuike Ekweozor, Umuawulu Ward Campaign Council Chairman reiterated that Soludo is a blessing not only to Ndi Anambra but particularly to Awka South Community. He pledged to deliver all 16 polling units in his ward for “Olu Atuegwu 1 of Anambra!”
Women leaders, including Mrs. Bibian Onwurah of Ezinator and Mrs. Okpala Chinyere of Umuawulu, highlighted key social programs like free education, youth empowerment, and antenatal care that has significantly impacted the lives of people in their community. They vowed to mobilize every household to ensure Soludo’s landslide re-election.
Other dignitaries, including APGA Awka South Chairman Barr. Lawrence Chukwuma, ASWAMA Chairman Prof. Emma Ezenwanji, and Isiagu PG, Elder Nwabueze Kingsley Nwankwo, and Ezinator Ward Executives reaffirmed their total support for the governor’s return.
