Governor Chukwuma Soludo has commissioned a newly completed two
kilometer road in Abatete, a project realized through the innovative public-private-community partnership policy championed by his administration.
This marks the second road commission in Abatete within the past year, following an 11-kilometer road unveiled by the Governor last year.
Highlighting the limited financial resources available to the government, Governor Soludo emphasized that the resources in the hands of government is not up to two percent marking the importance of collaborative efforts in infrastructure development, explaining that much of the funding for development resides with private individuals and community stakeholders who have to potential to show remarkable commitment to improving their local environment.
According to the Governor, Abatete has answered the call very resoundingly, praising residents and private partners for their sacrifice and dedication, pointing out that those who give in the communities, do so not just because they have excess, but because it pays to sacrifice.
The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritizing communities with the greatest road needs, stressing that strategic roads remain a key focus in ensuring connectivity and socio-economic growth across Anambra State.
While encouraging more community-driven projects, he pledged to answer the call of anybody who tars any road in any Anambra community.
He assured the community that requests for road projects ranging from 1.2 to 2.8 kilometers are “a very fair demand,” promising to reciprocate such investments in 2026.
Earlier, Dr. Victor Iloegbunam, the philanthropist and community leader who personally funded and constructed the 2-kilometer road donated to Abatete, stated that he did it to set an example and pay legacy while alive, emphasizing the importance of giving back to the community and leaving a lasting impact that benefits future generations.
