Soludo Commissions Solution Arena, Fruit And Vegetable Market In Agulu

Governor Chukwuma Soludo has commissioned the Solution Arena Fruit and Vegetable Market at Agulu in Anaocha local government area of Anambra State

Located at Agulu lakeside road in Umuowelle, Agulu the new Solution Arena would serve as the permanent site for the Nwagu Agulu Fruit Market, which was displaced by ongoing road construction.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that
the state-of-the-art market features 60 new shops, which would be given to traders free of charge.

Speaking at the inauguration, Soludo described his administration’s agenda for the state, especially Agulu and Anaocha as huge.

The Governor outlined various ongoing projects aimed at improving access roads and creating safe marketplaces to eliminate street trading hazards.

Soludo stated that the state master plan is huge and accommodates the next generation of ndị Anambra, pointing out that as a result, all Trunk-A Roads have been mapped for dualization.

He noted that in keeping with his urban regeneration initiative, Odu Igbo, Onitsha is currently being constructed, while a Solution Arena structure is already up and running in Awka, thereby reducing street trading.

Governor Soludo further called on residents to embrace a Public-Private-Community Partnership (PPCP) model for sustainable development, encouraging collaborative efforts between government, private entities, and communities noting that through PPCP many communities have successfully built infrastructure, including roads and markets.

“We have a huge agenda in Agulu and Anaocha. We are just two years and a few months in office. You have benefitted alot within these years.

“The Solution Arena which is not ordinarily meant to be a state government project is just supposed to serve as a model to communities, as part of our urban regeneration agenda.

“This is meant to take development nearer to the people, especially the poor and forgotten, in line with the “leave no one behind” mantra of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.

“Everybody that will do business here, will get a shop free of charge.

“There are communities in the state who hadn’t seen coal tar, but with the massive road construction of over 500 kilometres, they can now heave a sigh of relief”, the Governor stated.

“Agulu is a big town. God created and beautified the town with a lake. We will turn Agulu into a tourist destination”; the Governor stressed.

“The Agulu Lake, a remarkable natural resource, has immense potential as a tourism destination. In line with our broader developmental agenda, we have laid out a comprehensive master plan to unlock Agulu’s tourism potential, creating opportunities for economic growth”.

 

In his remark, the Mayor of Anaocha local government area, Hon. Romanus Ibekwe expressed joy at what the Governor is doing in Anaocha.

Ibekwe stated that significant thing is happening in Anaocha local government, courtesy of the Solution government.

The members representing Anaocha Constituency One and Two at the State House of Assembly, Hon. Nkechi Ogbuefi and Hon. Ejike Okechukwu thanked the Governor for what he is doing in their location, expressing readiness to support his second term.

The lawmakers praised his efforts in improving road networks, enhancing healthcare facilities, and advancing Anambra State’s infrastructure.

They prayed that the Governor’s vision for the state will be actualised.

On his part , the Managing Director of ACTDA, expressed gratitude for the governor’s leadership and said the new facility would be properly managed to ensure sustainability. He also urged traders to seize the opportunity to grow their businesses in the modern marketplace.

Also, beneficiaries of the new market shops Mrs. Catherine Agajielu and Mrs Utonyili Ngozi who expressed their gratitude, noting the improved safety, convenience and quality of the new market, thanked Governor Soludo for his efforts to support small businesses, praying for his continued success.

ANN gathered that the Solution Arena project was successfully executed by Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), led by its Managing Director, Mr. Ossy Onuko, who received commendations from Governor Soludo for delivering quality work.
