Soludo Donates White Canes to Anambra Blind Community

The Chairman of the Anambra State Disability Rights Commission, Bar Chuks Ezewuzie, has delivered cane guards to visually impaired individuals who gathered at St. Patrick Cathedral Awka hall to celebrate 2023 White Cane Awareness Day.

Ezewuzie expressed the government’s commitment to creating a prosperous and accessible environment for people with disabilities in Anambra State. 

Bar Ezewuzie also acknowledged Mrs. Nonye Soludo, the wife of the governor, for celebrating the event with the state’s blind community, and thanked the governor for budgeting funds for this year’s celebration. He also promised that next year’s celebration will be better.

ANN reports that White Cane Awareness Day is observed on October 15th every year to raise awareness about the importance of the white cane as a symbol of independence and mobility for individuals who are blind or visually impaired. It aims to promote understanding and respect for individuals who use white canes for navigation and to advocate for their rights and inclusion in society.
