….Recertification Of Land Titles To End April 26
Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Thursday launched the Anambra Geographic Information System (ANAMGIS) initiative,
at the headquarters of Ministry of Lands in Awka.
Angel Network News (ANN) reports that Prof. Soludo while speaking during the flag-off ceremony said the aim is to
modernize land administration processes and improve access to land-related data for both the government and the public
Soludo emphasized the critical role of technology in streamlining land services and addressing challenges related to land tenure, registration, and mapping, in line with his manifesto.
According to the Governor, all title holders should immediately commence recertification of their land titles before April, 26th, 2025 and be issued with new Certificate of Occupancy, because the old one will become moribond after the deadline.
Soludo maintained that the GIS initiative will not only improve transparency and efficiency in land administration but will also empower citizens with the information they need to assert their land rights.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Lands, Prof. Amucheazi Offornze, hailed the GIS initiative as a game-changer for land administration in the state, a technology that will not only enhance efficiency but will also provide a platform for better public engagement, accountability, facilitate faster processing of land applications and reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks.
According to Offornze, with the flag-off of the GIS initiative, Anambra State is poised to set a benchmark for land administration practices in Nigeria, signaling a proactive approach towards integrating technology in governance and ensuring that land resources are utilized sustainably and equitably.
