Soludo Support Group Expel Nwoye, Seven Others Over Gross Misconduct

The leadership of the flagship political support structure in Anambra state, Soludo Support Group (SSG), on Thursday expelled its former National Coordinator and Convenor, Mr Chinedu Nwoye also known as Glamour.

Other expelled members were Emmanuel Oramalu, Ochije Mmodilim, VanGorge Ezeogidi, Sam Emeka, Chimdindu Orakwue and John Ikechukwu while 17 others are still under investigation.

ANN gathered that the expulsion followed allegations leveled against him by the members of SSG including highhandedness, usurpation of powers, financial impropriety misrepresentation and refusal to apologise to the body for misleading statements against the leadership of SSG. 

The expelled Chinedu Nwoye (Glamour) is also the State Chief of Protocol and Deputy Chief of Staff to Gov. Chukwuma Charles Soludo. 

The group also abolished  the position of Convener and  replaced it with Founder.

Professor Ike Morah, the coordinator of  Njikoka/Dunukofia/Aniocha Zone who moved the motion for Nwoye’s expulsion alongside seven other persons said his dispositions had continued to be a huge embarrassment to the group.

The motion was seconded by Dr Okolo Ikechukwu, the Coordinator of Idemili Zone said Nwoye tried to usurp the powers of the National Coordinator and the BOT by calling for meetings and holding clandestine gatherings through which he attempted to misinform and mislead the public.

Okolo said that his expulsion together with his co-travelers was the only way to rejig the body and restore sanity.

Other members of the Soludo Support Group who spoke at the meeting insisted that Nwoye had refused to account for funds paid through him in the course of the group’s efforts towards the 2021 governorship election must be expelled and made to refund all the money. 

Mr Chukwuma Ogbonnia said the group raised about N17 million for Prof Chukwuma Soludo during its fundraising on May 18 2021 to support of the purchase of expression of interest and nomination form, but alleged that only N10 million was presented  by the former National Coordinator, Chinedu Nwoye.

On his part, Mr Goodluck Agbasiele, opined that gossiping and busyboding have enveloped the office of the State Chief of Protocol. 

“This is the first State Chief of protocol whose job description includes gossiping, slandering and blackmailing of the political class in the state. That office is a dignified office but I cannot say that today”.

Agbasiele said that the former National Coordinator, Chinedu Nwoye had not dignified the office he occupied and consequently,  not a good ambassador of Soludo Support Group (SSG).

Following the adoption of the motion and the unanimous position of members, the National leadership of SSG through its National Coordinator, Chief Arinzechukwu Awogu, said Nwoye stand expelled from SSG  as well as others affected members.

Speaking after the meeting, the National Youth leader of SSG, Dr. Charles Ebulue, bemoaned the attempt by Chinedu Nwoye to resort to the use of police in his desperate attempt to stop the meeting from holding, wondering why he would police in brothers’ dispute.

Ebulue thanked the Police for being professional in its approach to the issues of SSG, stressing that Nwoye’s desperation would only worsen matters.

“Why would Chinedu Nwoye write to the Police to stop us from meeting, he may have forgotten that this is democracy and there is freedom of association and assembly,” he said.

Some Local Government Area Coordinators were replaced with more vibrant ones to retool the group with for more effectiveness at the grassroots.
