Sowore Challenges S’East Leaders: Stop Rhetoric, Join March for Kanu’s Freedom

Human rights activist and political figure Omoyele Sowore has publicly challenged political leaders and influencers from the Southeast region to move beyond verbal campaigns and join him in a peaceful march to Aso Rock Villa to demand the release of detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

Sowore issued the challenge to prominent figures—including governors, senators, and other leaders—who have been vocal supporters of the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow movement.

”Time for Action is NOW”

In his strongly worded statement, Sowore dismissed current political rhetoric surrounding Kanu’s detention and called for immediate, physical action to pressure the government.

“I will set aside my differences with some politicians for one cause,” Sowore declared. “I challenge every politician or person of conscience from the Southeast who says they want @MaziNnamdiKanu released to stop the rhetoric. Time for action is NOW. Let’s march to Aso Rock Villa.”

He specifically named several key regional leaders, daring them to join the proposed demonstration.

“No more empty noise. Let Charles Chukwuma Soludo, Senator Enyi Abaribe, ALEX C OTTI, Mr. Peter Obi, and all others who claim to care about Kanu’s freedom, step up and join us in person. “We go together, peacefully, legally, and visibly — to demand justice and an end to MNK’s persecution. Chikena! Jisie ike! #FreeNnamdiKanuNow”

Sowore’s challenge emphasizes the need for a “peaceful, lawful, and visible” demonstration, urging that governors, senators, traditional rulers, priests, and every Nigerian committed to justice must participate in the march to transition the campaign from words to concrete pressure
