Spain’s De la Fuente named Ballon d’Or Men’s Coach of the Year

Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente has been named Men’s Coach of the Year at the 2026 Ballon d’Or awards following his side’s triumph at the FIFA World Cup.

The award recognises De la Fuente’s success with the Spanish national team, which also includes victories in the UEFA Nations League and Euro 2024.

Spain’s World Cup triumph featured prominently among this year’s Ballon d’Or nominees, with six members of the world champions earning nominations, including Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal.

De la Fuente’s recognition underscores Spain’s collective approach to the tournament, in which teamwork and squad unity played key roles alongside the individual quality of its players.
