Popular entertainer Darlington Okoye, better known as Speed Darlington, has filed a landmark lawsuit against the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), seeking ₦3 billion in damages. He claims the agency defamed him by declaring him “wanted” over an alleged rape of a minor.
Registered at the Federal High Court, Abuja, under case number FHC/ABJ/CS/1354/2025, the suit was submitted on July 9, 2025. In it, Darlington accuses NAPTIP of issuing a public wanted notice on June 27, including his name and photo—he alleges the announcement lacked legal foundation and gravely damaged his reputation and personal safety.
The entertainer, represented by a team of female lawyers, is not only demanding financial compensation but also a perpetual injunction preventing NAPTIP and its agents from enforcing or reissuing the contested declaration.
These allegations stem from a widely circulated video—an Instagram Live session—where Speed Darlington reportedly claimed sexual involvement with a 15-year-old girl. He maintains the statement was a publicity stunt, not an admission of wrongdoing, and thus legally baseless.
This legal action comes alongside another pending lawsuit: Darlington is already demanding ₦300 million from the Inspector-General of Police, alleging unlawful detention and abuse tied to accusations of cyberbullying, cyberstalking, and defamation.
