Students Protest In Taraba Over Non-Payment Of Staff Salaries

Students of Taraba State University, Jalingo have staged protests over non-payment of staff salaries and allowances.

Hundreds of students took to the streets on Monday demanding the payment of varsity staff salaries.

They destroyed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) billboards in different locations of the town.

ANN’s finding revealed that the students were supposed to start their examinations Monday but the examination could not be held because the lecturers had boycotted classrooms over nonpayment of their 10 months’ salaries.

The spokesperson for the Taraba State Police Command, DSP Usman Abdullahi told Daily Trust their personnel had been deployed to the university and streets to control the situation from turning violent.
