Suspected Drug Trafficker, Cable Vandals Paraded In Anambra

Operations Clean And Healthy Anambra, OCHA Brigade has paraded six suspects for drugs trafficking, phone snatching, cable vandalism and other related crimes.

ANN gathered that the suspects were arrested in different places during raids by OCHA Brigade and Anambra state Vigilante Service in Awka and Bridge Head Onitsha. 

Addressing the press during the parade, the Public Relations Officer of the agency, Mr. Anthony Agbafune revealed that the suspects are members of different gangs who specialize in vandalizing electrical cables across the state and supply to dealers and pointed out that the law is not respecter of anyone and advised youths to stay away from bad friends.

Mr. Agbafune explained that the suspect was caught red-handed snatching phones in Awka and was also found in possession of different illicit drugs.

He promised that prosecution of the suspects will commence immediately to serve as a deterrent to others. 

The suspect accused of illicit drugs trafficking and phones snatching Mr. Mmaduabuchi Nwankwo blamed unemployment as the reason for venturing into criminal activities and revealed that his boss who is closely related to a highly placed security personnel promised him protection from arrest. 

Another suspect, Mr. Ibrahim Mohammed from Bauchi state said he is not involved in cable vandalism but only escorts his best friend to make the sales in Onitsha who in turn pays him between 2000 and 2,500 naira depending on the proceeds from the sales of the cable.

Other suspects who were fingered for cable vandalism including Ikechukwu Ani from Enugu, Kabiru Bala from Kogi State and Musa Umaru from Jigawa state all pleaded innocent to the allegations leveled against them, insisting that the real suspects are either their friends or are business partners to the cable buyers in Onitsha and asked for proper investigation into the case.
