SWAN Games: Commissioner Of Police Advises Anambra Youths To Shun Drugs Abuse, Crime

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Nnanna-Oji Ama, has advised youths to shun drug abuse and crime, urging them to channel their energy into positive and productive activities.

CP Ama gave the advice when the leadership of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Anambra State Chapter, paid him a visit in his office ahead of the association’s forthcoming Sports Week.

The two-day event, themed “Sports for Peace and Economic Empowerment,” is scheduled to hold on August 20 and 21 at the Cosmilla Hotel Sports Arena, Awka.

The Commissioner said sports play an important role in promoting mental and physical alertness while providing a positive avenue for youths to channel their energy.

He also called for the cooperation of the media and residents of Anambra State in the collective effort to make the state safer and free from crime.

CP Ama endorsed the SWAN Games and approved the participation of the Police team, promising to reposition the sports department of the Command and restore it to winning ways.

He urged SWAN and all participating teams to play fairly, stressing that the games should not only promote healthy competition but also foster stronger bonds among participants.

Earlier, the Chairman of SWAN in Anambra State, Chimezie Anaso, said the event was designed to promote physical fitness, mental alertness and healthy relaxation among journalists and other participating teams.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that the Anambra State Football Association and All Stars Football Club of Awka have also confirmed their participation in the games.
