Tanzanian Protesters Loot Singer Juma Jux’s Fashion Store Amid Post-Election Unrest

Protesters in Tanzania have looted Juma Jux’s fashion store during widespread demonstrations over alleged electoral irregularities, although his wife insists the business was not set on fire.

According to media reports, the unrest followed the country’s disputed general election, with demonstrators targeting several business premises in the capital. Jux’s store became a visible casualty in the wave of protests.

In a social media message, Priscilla Ojo, Juma Jux’s wife, clarified that while the store had been “looted,” it was not burnt as initial rumors claimed. “Looted, not burnt. God is in control,” she wrote.

Eyewitnesses said looters broke into display cases, stole goods, and caused extensive damage to the showroom interior. Some reports also noted vehicles and other businesses were damaged nearby.

The incident underscores how commercial assets often suffer collateral damage during civil unrest, and raises fresh concern over security in urban centers during political turbulence.

Authorities have not publicly commented on whether arrests have been made in connection with the looting.
