The Anambra State House of Assembly has confirmed the tenure renewal of 19 Local Government transition committee chairmen for three months while replacing that of Ihiala and Awka North with new ones.
This followed a letter transmitted to State House of Assembly by Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo.
The House performed this in the Committee of the Whole where the TC chairmen and their councillors were confirmed through voice votes during yesterday plenary in Awka.
Speaking after the confirmation, the Speaker Rt Hon Somtochukwu Udeze urged them to endeavor to carry their councillors along and ensure sustained activities in their various local government areas.
He maintained that as the third tier of Government, it incumbent upon the TC chairmen to relate to their people and resolve issues at their local government areas.
Responding on behalf of other TC Chairmen, the TC chairman Ihiala, Engr Anayochukwu Orjiako assured the House that they are ready to do all expected of them with a view to localizing the Solution Agenda of the State Government, adding that stakeholders are working assidiously to tackle security challenges in Ihiala.###
