Street-hop artiste Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has claimed his defeat to content creator Carter Efe in a celebrity boxing match was due to cheating and rigging to avoid paying out huge betting stakes.
Portable lost by unanimous decision after three rounds at the “Chaos in the Ring 4” event held in Lagos, with all judges scoring 27-30 in favour of Carter Efe.
The loss ended Portable’s reign as celebrity boxing champion after earlier victories over Charles Okocha and Speed Darlington.
Reacting to the outcome, Portable alleged foul play linked to heavy financial bets placed on him.
“It was cheating. They couldn’t pay the money, so they rigged it. We are the ones who won, so they ripped me. They couldn’t pay the N23 billion that people bet on me. If Portable wins, they can never pay the money,” he said.
He further protested the referee’s decision to stop the fight, insisting he was still fit to continue despite appearing to pant.
“They should have let us keep fighting. They said I was panting — I did the same against Charles Okocha. All they should have done was pour water on me so I could go and beat him, but they said the fight was over,” Portable added.
The singer also demanded a share of the streaming revenue generated from the event.
