The plenary at the house today, considered the report of the house committee on health, on a bill for a law to amend the Anambra State mission school of Nursing and midwifery law 2026, after being presented by Honorable Dike Nnamdi Umeh, representing Aguata 1 constituency and chairman house committee on health.
The house was resolved to the committee of the whole, as moved by the majority leader and seconded by the minority leader, to consider the reports which are due for consideration.
At the committee of the whole, the report of house committee on health, on a bill to amend the Anambra State mission schools of Nursing and midwifery 2021 was amended and adopted by the honorable members of the house present. The bill was passed by the speaker of the house and is to be cited as Anambra state mission school of Nursing and Midwifery Amendment No 1 law of 2021 and shall come into force on the 16th day of August.
In progress of the plenary, the bill was read for the third time, as moved by the chief sponsor, honorable Somtochukwu Udenze and seconded by Honorable Austin Ofor, member representing Ekwusigo constituency.
A report of the house committee on public petition, on a petition titled complaints of unwholesome and fraudulent land deals by some officials of Anambra state housing Development Cooperation by Gladys Amaka Ejikeme was presented by Honorable Emeke Aforka, representing Orumba North constituency and chairman house committee on public petitions.
Angel Network News gathered that the report was considered and Amendments were made, in the committee of the Whole after much deliberations by the Honorable members present in the house.
The house also resolved to the committee of the whole, for the continuation consideration of the report on the committee on judiciary, on a bill for a law on the establishment of Magistrate Court for Anambra State of Nigeria and for the appointment of Magistrate Justices of peace and other officers of court and for other purposes relating to the administration of Justice.
The consideration of this bill was suspended by the committee of the whole due to the mood of the house and was stepped down to be continued on the next day of adjournment.
Before adjourning, the honorable Speaker of the house and the honorable members all sent out their goodwill wishes and congratulatory messages to the Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency Chief Willie Obiano Mmaduaburuchukwu on his 66th birthday coming up on the 8th of August.
Moving forward, the speaker explained the reason for the early congratulatory messages to the governor was due to the fact that the house will be going on their Summer Recess Today being the 5th of August 2021 to return on the 21st of September 2021.
According to the speaker of the house, during the recess period, the state house of Assembly is still open and the only thing that the house will not be doing is lawmaking which is passage of motions and bills but the other two cardinal responsibilities as enshrined in the constitution for legislators, we shall oversight and effective representations will still go on. All the house committees will still be doing their work and the members will also be running surgeries in their various constituency offices. All other administrative offices will be open.
