Traditional Ruler Of Alor ‘Igwe Okonkwo’ Celebrates 10th Year On The Throne

The traditional ruler of Alor Kingdom in Idemili South Local Government Area, Igwe MacAnthony Okonkwo has celebrated his 10th year on the throne and the 2024 new yam festival of the community

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that
the event was kicked off with an inter-denominational church thanksgiving service where the traditional ruler praised God for giving him success on the royal throne of the community and for giving the community a bountiful harvest.

In a speech before the ceremonial cutting of the new yam, Igwe Okonkwo thanked God for the abundant harvest this year and prayed for bigger harvests in future and remarked on the importance of everyone involved in agriculture as a way to end hunger and starvation.

Igwe Okonkwo with songs of praise expressed gratitude to God for giving him good health and another opportunity to celebrate another new yam celebration and revealed that prayers has kept him and his subject through all these years.

He also prayed for peace and immeasurable blessings upon Alor community, Anambra and Nigeria.

The Chairman, Anambra Central Traditional Rulers’ Council and traditional ruler of Ifitedunu, Igwe Emeka Ilouno and the traditional ruler of Umuawulu, Igwe Joel Egwuonwu acknowledged that new yam festival unites communities and is a great opportunity to motivate and encourage younger people to venture into farming to reduce the cost of food produce and other commodities in the market while improving the economy of the community, the state and the country in general.

They prayed God to give Igwe Okonkwo for good health and blessings upon Alor community.
