* Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr Peter Obi and the governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo yesterday met during a Catholic mass, to mark the 90th birthday of Francis Cardinal Arinze. The meeting will be the second one, since after Soludo attacked Obi in an essay titled; History Beckons, and I will not keep quiet. Both men heartily hugged each other in the event, to the admiration of many, who taught they were sworn enemies. Former governor of the state, Chief Willie Obiano and his wife, Ebelechukwu also attended the event, where he also met with his successor and predecessor.

* Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) National  Link Chapel will on Saturday December 10th mark 27 years of the existence of it’s newspaper and 15th year anniversary as a chapel. The event which will be held at the Helton Leisure Awka will be under the chairmanship of NUJ Anambra council chairman Odugwu Emeka Odogwu with Prof. Stella Okunna, Dr. Henry Duru and Dr. Chira Obiara as the guest speakers and NUJ President Deacon Chris Isiguzo as the chief host. The anniversary/gala night which is themed “Role of the media in modern society” has sentator Ifeanyi Ubah at the special guest and editor in chief National Link Newspaper, Comrade Chinyelude Tempest Udeze, as the host.

* Anambra State government said its Social Protection Policy would be ready for implementation in January, 2023. Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Ms. Chiamaka Nnake disclosed this in Awka during a one-day stakeholders’ validation of draft Anambra State Social Protection Policy document in partnership with Africa Network For Environment and Economic Justice (ANEEJ),  Social Protection Policy is a government programme intended to assist individuals and societies manage risk and volatility, protect them from poverty and inequality and help them to access economic opportunity.

* There was jubilation among the youths in Orumba North/South over the weekend as the member representing Orumba North/South in the Federal House of Representatives, Hon Okwudili Ezenwankwo (Ewepudike) partners with National Center for Women Development (NCWD) to empower constituents with some basic skills that’s good to enhance self actualization and survival. The participants who were trained couldn’t hide their joy as they promise to apply the knowledge for the overall best interest of the society. They pledged their continued unwavering and unalloyed support for the people’s legislator

* Residents of Anambra State on Friday discarded the warning by a faction of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), loyal to Simon Ekpa. This is as normal economic activities held in towns in all parts of Anambra State, despite the order by factional leader of IPOB, Simon Ekpa for a five-day sit at home. Ekpa had declared a five-day sit at home, without any reason for the action. The days he said the exercise would be observed included; 9, 10, 11 12 and 14 December.

* The Candidate of APGA for Orumba North and South Federal House of Representatives, *Sir Eric Kanayo Eze (Ochiagha Orumba ) has commended the Association of Persons with Disabilities, Orumba North Chapter for  their coming together with one voice with the spirit of love and for bringing themselves together under the umbrella of  JONAPWD  to protect the welfare and common interests of their  members. Ochiagha Orumba  made this call at Orumba North Local government Headquarters,  while delivering his speech at the End of the year party of  the Association. 

He extolled them and appreciate their support so far , more especially for founding him worthy to be adopted as their soul Candidate to represent the good people of Orumba North and South at the green chambers and assured them of his total support/ partnership if elected.

* Anambra State government has demolished the newly constructed house of a human rights activist, Mr Osita Obi.

The building, a duplex, which was constructed at the Executive Business District area of Awka, near the abandoned government house was demolished on Wednesday. Obi who raised the alarm over the destruction stated that he was pained because he was not even told of the intended destruction, so that he would take away some needed items in the house.

* Lawmakers in the 7th legislature of Anambra state have paid glowing tributes to their departed colleague Hon. Nnamdi Okafor, who was the Majority Leader of the House of Assembly until his death. It was an emotion-ladened valedictory session at the legislative Chambers Awka on Thursday 8th December, 2022 as past and present colleagues of the House of Assembly including families and friends of the departed lawmaker, recalled how the late Majority Leader executed his duties and obligations so diligently.
