* The Department of Educational Management and Policy, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, has presented awards to some distinguished personalities. The ceremony; Linkage/Alumni Home Coming and Awards Presentation, held at the university, attracted students, alumni of the department, politicians, academia, traditional rulers, captains of industries, among others. Speaking during the event, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Charles Esimone, said the strength of any university globally is their alumni base, and noted that the ceremony came at the right time, and is an opportunity to attract funds to achieve his vision two hundred for the university.

* Sequel to her promise to provide sandals for four indigent school girls of Community Secondary School, Ndiowu in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State about a week ago, the wife of the Transition Committee Chairman of the Local Government, Lady Chiaku Ekwueme, on Tuesday, delivered the sandals to the school girls at the school premises. Recall that Lady Ekwueme had visited the school last week where she distributed sanitary kits to 160 school girls in continuation of “Pad 300 Rural Girls” campaign which she initiated in conjunction with the A-Z 4 Kids and DOVEF aimed at promoting hygiene, healthy living and eradicating poverty among young girls of secondary school age.

* Work is in progress on Edeh road at Okpoko in Ogbaru Local government area of the state.

The Chairman of Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Works, Dr. Timothy Ifedioramma, made the observation when members of the committee embarked on oversight visit to the project site. While inspecting the road project alongside other members of the committee, Dr. Ifedioramma explained that the road is part of nine others measuring fourteen point nine kilometers being reconstructed by the Soludo administration.

 

* The Anglican Bishop of Ogbaru Diocese, Right Reverend Prosper Amah, has charged various families to inculcate the teachings of the church in their children. He said that children, as future leaders of the society, need to be properly guided and trained to secure a bright future for them. The Ogbaru Diocesan Bishop, who spoke on the essence of charity and alms giving during and after festivities, cautioned people against using acts of charity to play politics. 

* It was a joyful and memorable day for the management and students of Mater Amabilis Secondary School, Umuoji as Hon Obinna Chidoka, the Federal House of Representative member representing Idemili North/South Federal Constituency lit up the school with the installation of solar light to beef up security in the school. Just last year, the Obosi born legislator attracted and completed the renovation of Anaogu community hall and also the installation of solar street lights at Nkwo Dimechem.

 

* Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has assured total support of his administration to the recent proposed Federal Government’s social intervention program for vulnerable Nigerians. The Governor gave the assurance in Awka; at inaugural meeting with “At Risk Children Program, ARC-P,” team; from the office of the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osibanjo. Governor Soludo, who was represented by his Deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, commended the federal government for the social intervention programme, which he said is in line with his vision of getting the youths and the vulnerable off the street through provision of employment opportunities and skill acquisition trainings, and assured that the team has his administration’s support as it is for the interest of Anambra youths.

*The candidate for Orumba North constituency in Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Ben Umeh, has vowed to give his constituents quality and impeccable representation if elected. Umeh said Ndi-Orumba North deserves the best and am here as their best and choicest Candidate.

* The All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA), Ogidi ward 1 has canvassed support for House of Representatives candidate, Idemili North and South Federal Constituency, Hon. Ikenna Iyiegbu(Onyechimelu’eze) in the upcoming general elections. Speaking through the former Special Adviser to Chief Willie Obiano and member of JAAC, Hon. Ifeatu Obi-Okoye(Igiligi) who said that Onyechimelu’eze would run a youth-friendly representation and cause development in other aspect, added that Ogidi ward 1 will ensure victory for APGA candidates in Idemili.
