# Zone 13 police Ukpo, in Dunukofia LGA under the leadership of AIG Abayomi Peter Oladipo has commenced the activities for the celebration of the National Police Day 2026 in line with the directives of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
The activities carried out for Day 1 of the Police day Celebration includes sanitation and clean up at Ukpo market, one of the commercial hub of Dunukofia LGA.
They also had engagement/ town hall meetings with strategic stakeholders such as Ukpo market chairman, women leader Ukpo market and the traditional ruler of Ukpo kingdom.

# The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has officially concluded the service year for the 2025 Batch A, Stream 1 corps members deployed to Anambra
NYSC on Tuesday issued Certificates of National Service (CNS) to 1,149 corps members were discharged in the batch, comprising 457 males and 692 females, across Anambra State.
In a good will message, the State Coordinator Mrs. Pauline Ojisua while speaking at the Awka South Local Government Area Secretariat, where corps members turned out in large numbers to receive their certificates, marking the successful completion of their mandatory one-year national service, commended them for their dedication, discipline, and resilience throughout their service year.
Ojisua urged them to carry forward the values of patriotism, unity, and selfless service instilled by the scheme as they transition into the next phase of their lives.
# As part of activities marking the 2026 National Police Day celebration, the Anambra State Police Command undertook a walkathon aimed at promoting physical fitness and strengthening police-community relations.
The fitness walk, which commenced from the Command Headquarters, saw the participation of the Management team of the Command, other police officers alongside members of the public, demonstrating unity, cooperation, and a shared commitment to healthy living.
The exercise further underscores the Command’s dedication to enhancing the well-being of its personnel while fostering closer ties with the community in line with the principles of community policing.

# Prince Chinedu Okafor, Mayor of Awka South, in a passionate and firm address, reoriented the Udogachi Local Government security personnel on the importance of discipline, integrity, and dedication to duty.
Okafor reminded them that they are not just uniformed officers, but the first line of protection for the people, entrusted with the safety of lives and property across the communities.
The local government Chairman expressed deep concern over reports of negligence and misconduct, stressing that such attitudes undermine public trust and weaken the very essence of their assignment. # The Anambra State Police Command has recorded further breakthrough following sustained investigation and interrogation in continuation of an earlier operation by Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, which led to the arrest of three suspects and recovery of arms in Ogidi on 21st March 2026.
The Operatives made additional progress with the arrest of the suspected ringleader of the syndicate, one Chukwuka Anene l, aged 46 years, who confessed to being the armourer of the gang.
According to a press release by SP. Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, the suspect subsequently led Police operatives to the gang’s hideout in Ogidi, where the following items were recovered: two pump-action guns, two locally made Beretta pistols, five rounds of 9mm ammunition, seven live cartridges, a beret linked to a cult group, and body armour.
“The Command has intensified efforts to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang, while investigations remain ongoing.
“The Anambra State Police Command reiterates its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and urges members of the public to continue to support the Police with credible information’. Ikenga stated.
# ‎Anambra State’s newly appointed Head of Service, Ngozi Anuli Iwouno, has issued a stern warning to civil servants against laxity, vowing strict sanctions for lateness, unauthorized absences, and other misconduct.

‎The admonition follows Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s recent visit to the State Secretariat, where many workers were found late to work or absent without approved leave.
‎
‎In a public service notice, Iwouno emphasized that such behavior violates the Public Service Rules (PSR), 2021 Edition.
