* The people of Umuokpu village, Awka in Awka South Local Government Area have endorsed Governor Chukwuma Soludo for a second term in view of his sterling performance in Anambra State within three years.

The people made the endorsement after visiting Solution Fun City, Ifite flyover and the new Anambra State Government House and Lodge all in Awka

Speaking to journalists after touring the projects, the President General, Umuokpu Awka, Dr Chukwudi Okeke observed that the three projects have given Awka a befitting status, especially the Solution Fun City, which he said will attract millions of visitors annually and generate substantial revenue for Anambra State.

* The Deputy Majority Leader of Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Jude Akpua has counselled journalists on the need for objectivity and balance as they discharge their duty.

Hon. Akpua, who is the Member representing Njikoka two Constituency gave the advice while speaking in an interview with reporters after attending the One-Day Training Workshop for Journalists in Awka, being organized by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and Patriots for Soludo.

According to the lawmaker, journalists are the conscience of the society, agenda setters and NUJ Anambra Council has continued to play its role in informing the public with the right information.

The lawmaker described Prof. Chukwuma Soludo as a Governor that is setting a monomental standard in Anambra governance.

* Sir Paul Chukwuma, has emerged the candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) for the 2025 Anambra governorship election.

The former All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial aspirant emerged through as the candidate of YPP after primary election, conducted using the Option A4 in Awka after polling a total of 366 votes out of 374 votes cast.

Though, he was the only aspirant, accredited delegates were required to either confirm his nomination by queuing behind him or otherwise.

In his acceptance speech, Chukwuma saluted the party for the mandate given to him and called for their maximum support. The YPP governorship flagbearer said he will be a unifying force that will galvanise party and non-party members under a common goal.

Chukwuma expressed gratitude to the party and its members, emphasizing the YPP’s foundation on discipline. He assured that more people would soon join the party, further strengthening its base.

* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has received former members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra state into the All Progressives Grand Alliance, describing APGA as the big tent for progressive politics in the state.

Addressing a crowd filled with enthusiastic supporters at Professor Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Centre, Awka, Governor Soludo described the movement as a mission ordained by God and urged the new members to contribute meaningfully towards the upcoming elections.

The State Chairman of APGA, Barrister Ifeatu Obiokoye, shared insights on the extensive groundwork being laid by the new coalition, stating that they conducted verification, and the group showed a strong presence in all the wards, signifying a robust organizational framework aimed at ensuring the success of their political objectives.

Earlier, the former Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Honourable Chukwudi Umeaba, reaffirmed the importance of the coalition, and pointed out that they came to tell the world that they are joining the moving train, because Anambra is better for it under Governor Soludo.

* The Director of Operations for the Anambra State Special Anti-Touting Squad (SASA), Mr. Chukwuebuka Onwuemene, has clarified that the agency is not shielding any illegal revenue collectors, but is instead committed to removing all touts from the streets and dismantling unauthorized revenue networks across the state.

Onwuemene while speaking during a press briefing in Onitsha, described recent allegations of favoritism as unfounded and based on a misinterpretation of SASA’s operational focus.

The SASA boss encouraged the public to verify whether any individual collecting levies has legal backing before assuming wrongdoing. He rejected claims that SASA targets specific groups while giving others a free pass.

Reacting to concerns about SASA’s enforcement tactics, particularly involving the operative known as Aka Odo, the director defended the squad’s conduct, insisting all actions are within the limits of the law.

He likened the agency’s role to that of a tree on the roadside, stating that there is no perfect way to serve the public.

* The Action Alliance (AA), has elected a
popular philanthropist and Awka community leader, Ozo Jeff Nweke as its governorship candidate for the Anambra November 8, 2025 governorship election in the state.

Ozo Nweke emerged as candidate of the party in AA gubernatorial primary held at Jessie Hotel Awka, on Thursday.

Nweke emerged the flagbearer of the party after scoring a total of 58 votes to defect two other aspirants, Mrs Amarachukwu Ekwunife Obiora and Mr Michael Enemou who scored 8 and 6 votes respectively.

In his acceptance speech, Ozo Nweke, assure that if elected, his administration will prioritised on employment to end the lingering unemployment challenged ravaging the state at the moment.

Nweke thanked the party leadership, particularly the delegates for electing him to fly the party ticket for the November 8, gubernatorial election.

* Journalists during One-Day Training Workshop for Journalists in Awka, being organized by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and Patriots for Soludo, have been counselled on the need for objectivity and balance as they discharge their duty during the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Anambra State.

A legal practitioner and professional conflict manager, Barr. Dr Moses Igboh, gave the counsel in his Lecture to the News Managers on Election Process and Role of Journalists.

According to him the success or failure of elections depends on how the Electoral Umpire and the Press discharge their pivotal responsibilities. Hence he asked journalists to help make the society better by giving their best as demanded by the code of their profession.

* The Commissioner of Police, CP. Ikioye Orutugu in partnership with the Anambra State Ministry of Tourism has hosted
Restaurant and Bar Owners Association at the Police Commands Headquarters in Awka.

The meeting focused on implementing enhanced security and safety measures to safeguard businesses, employees and customers, particularly on Club Road, Awka and other key entertainment and tourist attractions in the State.

During his address, CP Orutugu disclosed that security assessments revealed that some bars and lounges were being used as meeting points by criminal elements. He urged business owners to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by maintaining vigilance and promptly reporting suspicious activities.

The CP assured the public of increased police patrols and improved surveillance to deter crimes and to swiftly address security threats.

In his address, the Commissioner of Culture and Tourism, Hon. Don Onyeji thanked the CP for this initiative and pledged the support of his Ministry to assist the Command in this regard. He also noted that Anambra State has a rich cultural heritage, with numerous tourist attractions such as Agulu Lake, Ogbunike Cave and Igbo Ukwu Museum, etc which showcase the State’s history, art and natural beauty.

* The Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ in Partnership With Anambra Patriots for Soludo, has organized training workshop for Journalists on election coverage and maintaining the ethics of the profession.

NUJ Chairman, Anambra State Council,
Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu in his remark, emphasized that the training is to help Journalists brush up on the ethics of the profession, knowing what is expected of them and how to act at each given time, appreciating the Patriots for supporting the workshop through sponsorship.

In his keynote address, the Managing Director, Anambra State Bureau of Public Procurement, Architect Okey Ezeobi, noted that Journalists shape public opinion in diverse ways and are expected to stand for truth at all times.

Dr. Moses Ugbo whose paper centered on ‘Election Process and Role of Journalists’ explained that Journalists are key stakeholders in election coverage and reportage, saying that Journalists must always report timely and accurate information.

* A Bill for a Law to amend Anambra State Mission Schools of Nursing and Midwifery, 2025, has been passed by Anambra State House of Assembly.

The bill aims to strengthen the legal framework establishing the mission schools of nursing and midwifery across the state streamline their operations and align them with modern standards in nursing education and healthcare delivery.

Moving the motion, the member representing Aguata Constituency Two, Chief Tony Muobuike, explained that the amendment was necessary to address gaps identified in the principal law and to further empower the institutions to deliver quality training in line with national and international best practices.

The Speaker of the House, Right Honourable Somtochukwu Udeze said the passage of the amendment bill reflects the Assembly’s commitment to supporting health sector and building a competent workforce for the state’s mission hospitals.
